Position in County Government: Deputy Clerk, Franklin County Clerk’s Office

How long have you worked for the County?
I worked for the PVA’s office for three years before coming to the Clerk’s office. I started working in my current position this past September 29th

Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Western Hills High School in 2009.

Are you married/do you have kids/family?
I have a wonderful boyfriend who works for the Transportation Cabinet. My mother works for Revenue and my step-father works for the County Judge/Executive Association. My family is originally from Dayton, Kentucky, which is near Cincinnati in Campbell County. We moved to Frankfort when I was 12 when my mother married my step-father. I also have three sisters. One is currently attending Western Kentucky University, another is a senior at Western Hills, and my youngest sister is a first grader at Westridge Elementary.

Do you have any hobbies? What do you do in your free time?
I really don’t have a lot of free time. I work a second job at the Kentucky Coffeetree Café. By the time that I get off work around 4:45 I have to head straight to my second job, which begins at 5 PM. I usually don’t get off from working at the Coffeetree until around midnight; so my free time is basically non-existent.

Explain what you do on the job:
I help people with renewing their vehicle registration.

How does your job impact County residents:
I believe that a lot of people see us as the “bad guys” who are just taking their money. But I work hard to ensure that people really have a good experience when they come into our office. I try to ask customers about their weekend, or try to strike up some conversation with them. I never want our customers to think that they are simply handing their money to us. I also try to smile because I believe that it can really make a difference in a person’s day.

What is the favorite part of your job/memorable experiences?
I enjoy talking to people. A customer recently told me that I was a kindred spirit. That really meant a lot to me. I really work hard at trying to make a connection with the people that come to my counter. I also like working with my bosses. Both Jeff and Jack are known to play pranks on the staff. They work really hard to create a good atmosphere in our office.
